On Being the Model
What do you think of when you hear “what you eat in private you wear in public”? I ran across that meme on Pinterest while looking for weight loss motivation a few years ago. Those words struck a chord with me. At 250 pounds, there was no hiding my poor relationship with food. For some reason, that meme left an impression and helped me make a perspective shift for real change.
Impeccable Self Care
It also became clear to me that I had a responsibility to take impeccable care of myself because modeling the right behavior was important for those around me, especially my daughters. Despite how often I was told that self improvement must be done for yourself, doing it for myself hadn’t been enough for years! It was the external motivation and added responsibility that it wasn’t all about me that moved me to action. Having purpose that extends beyond self is pretty damn motivating! How about we dive into that in more detail later? I love digging into motivation and figuring out where it comes from and how we can get it to hang around longer.
So, there you have it. Being the Model (even when no one is looking) has become my personal mantra. I strive to make the best choices, even and especially, when no one is looking. I apply that role model mentality in every aspect of my life, being very deliberate in creating the ideal life I’m most proud to live in.
